The Worthy Girl

A painting dated 30-11-2020 on the topic done by me in Madhubani style.
I kept walking down the road,
By the stream that swiftly flowed,
Through the meadows moist and green,
She stood majestically like a queen.
Her skin was dark as dark could be,
Eyes wide open for the world to see,
She may have been an ordinary girl,
But I saw in her eyes a keen twirl.
A doe eyed naive lass,
She smiled at me in a flash,
Reflecting an ocean of suppressed emotions,
Her life's poignant story, free spoken.
For she was born a village girl,
With her talents yet to unfurl,
She led her life in abject penury,
Wrapped in pain and sheer misery.
Instantly I thought of adopting her,
To give her a life much much bigger,
With strengthened wings she soared the sky,
To distant lands, wishing me Good Bye.
Despite being shy and thin,
Her potentials flourished from within,
Bestowed with qualities rare was she,
Like gems that lay under the sea.
She entered my life as God's grace,
I joyfully took her in my embrace,
This is a tale of a forgotten face,
Who, given a push won the race.
